 7th to 10th June 2012 Appleby Horse Fair

In the week leading up to the famous Appleby Horse Fair it is tradition for some travellers to stop off in Bainbridge. Their traditional painted wagons and modern gleaming caravans park up on the green and horses are washed in the River Bain before they move on to sell them at the fair.

Hawes Annual Gala

Fancy Dress Parade through Hawes onto the Gala Field. Side shows, children's races, etc

Wensleydale Agricultural Show

Traditional dales show. Classes for cattle, sheep, heavy horses and ponies. Sheep dog trials, dressed walking sticks and vintage machinery. An impressive display of handicrafts, horticulture and homecrafts

Reeth Agricultural Show

 

100th Annual Show. A traditional, dales show in picturesque surroundings.
 1st September 2012

 96th Moorcock Show

Starts 12.00 noon at Mossdale, between Hawes and Sedbergh. Judging of sheep, children’s entertainment, craft specialists & an exhibition by local businesses & food producers and a display of local historical photographs, and vintage tractors.
Admission: Adults £4, children and car parking are free
 5th September 2012

 Muker Agricultural Show

 Traditional dales show – Classes for Sheep, Sheep Dog Trials, Handicrafts, Horticulture, Fancy Dress. Stone Walling Demo, Muker Silver Band in attendance.
5th November 2012Hawes Fireworks Display and Bonfire Each Year a display and bonfire usually take place on the community field next to the Countryside Museum in Hawes- entry free, but donations welcomed.
 1st December 2012  Hawes Christmas Festival Annual “Turning on" of the Christmas lights. Fancy Dress Parade through Hawes onto the Gala Field. Side shows, children's races, etc etc.

In Hawes Market House
1.00pm: Doors Open - bring your contribution for the community buffet.
1.30pm: Wensleydale's Got Talent
3.00pm: Children's Party
4.00pm: Community carol singing in the Market Place with the Hawes Prize Silver Band, led by Rev. Janet Park.
4.30pm: Father Christmas arrives, Hawes Christmas lights switch on.
